Day 8 Split, Dubrovnik
Early departure to Dubrovnik. On your way from Split to Dubrovnik, you'll get to stop for lunch in Ston. It is our great honor to host you here in the unique environment that Ston offers - a magical medieval little town whose history reaches back as far as the 14th century. It is a small town with the longest stone wall in Europe (3.4 miles of wall!), narrow quiet streets, and homes of ancient nobility. Its former importance as a "salt city" continues today with one of the oldest salt plants in the world. These saltworks have remained faithful to the tradition and to the natural way of salt production which has surprisingly not changed much for many centuries. After visiting Ston, continue onto Dubrovnik to enjoy the evening at your leisure and and dinner on your own.

After this walking tour, you will travel to the Konavle region for lunch. The Konavle Valley is a fascinating region on the outskirts of Dubrovnik. Known for its traditional way of living, pure olive oil, green honey, sweet smelling herbs, and embroidery, it is a real ethnographic, gastronomic, and natural jewel of Croatia. Don't miss the opportunity to see the old mills on Ljuta River once used to grind corn and produce flour as well as for fine textiles.
